2019 - The Summer of Spiaggina LOVE

This summer, Ilaria was commissioned by global car rental brand HERTZ to work on an international communications campaign to launch its collaboration with GARAGE ITALIA. Car rental is becoming increasingly a commodity. To combat this trend, Hertz has been developing products and services that offer its clients a premium experience. In Italy, this includes “Selezione Italia”, a fleet of premium automobiles from iconic brands like Alfa Romeo and Maserati that clients can rent to put the fun back into car rental. in 2019 Hertz took this idea to the next level and partnered with Garage Italia, a Milan based custom design atelier, from whom it commissioned a fleet of its limited edition Fiat 500 Jolly “Spiaggina” Icon-E cars. These are original Fiat 500s from the 1960s that have been restored and restyled into the legendary “Spiaggina” (a top-less, door-less, car for going to the beach) and refitted with an electric engine. Ilaria led an international communications push that included content creation (photography and video), influencer activation, a media test drive in the Amalfì Coast and Puglia and a global media outreach.

Ilaria single handedly managed photographers, video-makers, journalists, influencers, talent agents, event agencies and three PR agencies. The campaign produced over $US 5 million worth of press coverage and more than 6 million impressions on social media, including @Doyoutravel’s gorgeous video on Youtube. This does not include the countless reposts of the car photographs of Instagram. It is safe to say that the Spiaggina was THE car of Instagram this summer!
